Watch M83's "Claudia Lewis" Video
M83’s got a thing for the supernatural (see kids with special powers and spacey phenomena in the videos for “Reunion,” “Wait,” “Steve McQueen” and the massive hit “Midnight City”). Naturally—or unnaturally—their new video for “Claudia Lewis” falls under that same umbrella.
Putting an otherworldly spin on the classic boy-meets-girl tale, the video follows a boy who pines after a mysterious girl with a deep secret, one who was—shhh—just beamed down from outer space. The video was directed by Bryce Dallas Howard (daughter of filmmaker Ron Howard) as part of MTV’s Supervideos series and stars another famous daughter, Lily Collins (have you heard of her dad, Phil?) as the blue-haired extra-terrestrial girl.
Dallas Howard told Vogue that the video was inspired by the David Bowie-led sci-fi film The Man Who Fell to Earth.
The video also stars Israel Broussard (The Bling Ring) as Collins’ starry-eyed love interest and Ashley Rickard (MTV’s Awkward).
