Miles Teller, Shailene Woodley Threaten to Ruin Lives of Theater Texters in PSA

The Spectacular Now is a tender, warmhearted portrait of the transformative power of young love. That being said, don’t let stars Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley catch you texting during a movie or they will not hesitate to drop the sensitivity and “kick your ass.”

The two say as much in a new anti-texting PSA, filmed as a part of the Don’t Talk/Don’t Text series that air before screenings at the Alamo Drafthouse. Past PSAs have featured the likes of Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy (in Before Midnight mode), David Duchovny and, in one of the theater’s best to date, an angry phone message left by a disgruntled patron who was kicked out for using her phone.

“Answering texts is a very serious choice,” Teller proclaims in the ad. “And when you do that you need to ask yourself: ‘Am I being a dick?’”

So before you go busting out your smartphone to answer a text, remember this—The Spectacular Now’s Miles Teller will “ruin your life.”
