Watch the First Clip from Burning Man Doc Spark
In this clip, which made its premiere at Rolling Stone, directors Steve Brown and Jessie Deeter take audiences inside the phenomenon that takes place in the empty Black Rock Desert of Nevada. Burning Man festival is as much of a mystery as it is a cultural event, so in Spark: A Burning Man Story, which first made its premiere at the SXSW Film Festival, we get a first-hand look at what goes down during this weeklong extravaganza.
“We specifically set out to make a film that people didn’t see as ‘just another Burning Man doc.’ We were interested in a more universal story of what happens when people feel that they have the freedom and space to truly be themselves and to act on their dreams,” Brown told Rolling Stone. “The founders sought to broaden their vision to one that would make a difference in the world while they wrestled with issues of leadership and legacy. Just as many of us experience the tension between the desire to follow our passion and the need to get by in the world, many organizations begin with passion, ideals and purpose, and then struggle to preserve their dream as they grow.”
Spark is playing in LA and New York on Aug. 16 and is available on iTunes and other digital platforms on Aug. 17. Check out the clip above.
