Watch Woody Allen as a Pimp in John Turturro's Fading Gigolo
The typical roles are reversed in the upcoming film Fading Gigolo. If you’re seeing Woody Allen in a movie then chances are he’s running the whole shebang. The iconic writer/director frequently stars in his own work and rarely shows up in other people’s films. But for John Turturro’s forthcoming Fading Gigolo, Allen stars alongside Turturro as an elderly pimp for his aging first-time gigolo.
Turturro wrote and directed Fading Gigolo, a film that follows a 56-year old man named Fiovante (Turturro) who finds himself being pimped out by his 77-year old cohort Murray (Allen). Adopting the pimped out pseudonym of Dan Bongo, Murray’s business begins to blossom as he pawns Fiovante off on lonely women that he comes across through various locales.
The film boasts an impressive cast with actresses like Sofia Vegara, Vanessa Paradis and Sharon Stone rounding out the list of a few clients that the two come across. Allen looks to be in his typical form in the trailer, providing quirky one-liners and quips that only add to the hilarity of Woody Allen playing a pimp.
Though the film doesn’t have a U.S. release date yet, it’s set to debut at the Toronto International Film Festival this September.
