Phillies' Chase Utley Finally Responds to Mac from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
Four years ago in It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Mac opened up to Dee about his infatuation with Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley.
In the episode, Mac shares a “love” letter with Dee that he wrote to Utley, but according to Mac “in a lot of ways I do love him, but it is not a love letter in the way that you’re thinking of it.”
I feel like I can call you Chase because you and me are so much alike. I would love to meet you some day, it would be great to have a catch. I know I can’t throw as fast as you, but I think you’d be impressed with my speed. I love your hair. You run fast. Did you have a good relationship with your father? Me neither. These are all things we can talk about and more. I know you have not been getting my letters because I know you would write back if you did. And I hope you write back this time, and we get to be good friends. I’m sure our relationship would be a real homerun!
Rooting for you always,
According to Mac, he tried everything he could think of to get the letter to Chase Utley. “I have given this to Major League Baseball, his lawyer, his manager, his mom, and he has not gotten back to me, which means he hasn’t read it yet.”
All hope seemed lost as Chase Utley continued to ignore him year after year. That is, until yesterday, when Utley made a video for the MLB Fan Cave responding to Phillies fan mail. Out of the thousands of letters Utley gets, guess which one he finally picked up? The Phillies star read Mac’s letter and even went out of his way to write back to the “Philiadelphia youngster named Mac.”
