Destroyer to Release Spanish Language EP
Dan Bejar is apparently frustrated with the English language.
The Destroyer frontman recently announced a forthcoming Spanish-language EP aptly titled Five Spanish Songs, which will be released via Merge Records on Nov. 29.
Bejar decided to make the jump to Spanish language music when he began to feel jaded towards the English language.
“It was 2013. The English language seemed spent, despicable, not easily singable. It felt over for English; good for business transactions, but that’s about it.”
Bejar noted that his second language was Spanish and that he had been a longtime fan of the Spanish language band St. Chinarro. In fact, St. Chinarro’s frontman Antonio Luque wrote all of the songs that will appear on Destroyer’s new EP.
The EP features several collaborators such as Nicolas Bragg, John Collins, David Carswell, Stephen Hamm and Josh Wells of the band Black Mountain.
