I, Frankenstein Slated for IMAX Screens in January
It’s alive And coming to IMAX screens this January.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that I, Frankenstein, a reimagining of the Frankenstein mythos featuring Aaron Eckhart, will hit IMAX theaters on Jan. 24, 2014.
Eckart stars as Adam Frankenstein, a more humanized version of the monster who finds himself involved in a war between two immortal clans. Based on the Darkstorm Studio graphic novel of the same name by Underworld actor Kevin Grevioux, the film comes courtesy of writer/director Stuart Beattie, who helped pen the screenplays for Collateral, 30 Days of Night and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. The film is being produced under Lakeshore Entertainment, which released the Underworld franchise.
The film also stars Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto and Aden Young as Victor Frankenstein.
“The producers certainly have a strong track record—with the Underworld franchise having grossed more than $460 million at the global box office—and we’re excited to team up with them once again as they launch this all new cinematic world,” IMAX Entertainment CEO Greg Foster said in a statement.
