James Cameron Dubs Gravity "The Best Space Film Ever Done"
Space junkie and science fiction enthusiast James Cameron, also known as the director of box-office wrecking features like Avatar, has publicly gone on record with his take on Gravity, Alfonso Cuaron’s highly anticipated space feature.
“I was stunned, absolutely floored,” says the director, quoted in Variety yesterday. “I think it’s the best space photography ever done, I think it’s the best space film ever done, and it’s the movie I’ve been hungry to see for an awful long time."
The filmmaker’s ability to bring his lofty visions to the big screen was a reason behind Cameron’s deep respect for the picture, which opened the Venice Film Festival last week to stunned audiences.
“What is interesting is the human dimension. Alfonso and Sandra working together to create an absolutely seamless portrayal of a woman fighting for her life in zero gravity," said Cameron. Gravity is slated for an Oct. 4 release in North America.
