Final Mad Men Season Split in Two Parts
AMC announced today that the seventh and final season of Mad Men will now have 14 total episodes. The show will be split into two, seven-episode parts, the first airing in spring of 2014 and the second airing in spring of 2015. The first part is titled “The Beginning” while the second part has been labeled “The End of an Era.”
Charlie Collier, AMC president said “In an era where high-end content is savored and analyzed, and catch-up time is used well to drive back to live events, we believe this is the best way to release the now 14 episodes that remain of this iconic series.”
“We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience,” said Matthew Weiner, creator and executive producer.
The critically acclaimed series has won the Emmy for “Outstanding Drama Series” four times in a row and three Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series.
