Paul Greengrass Denies Directing Fifth Bourne Film
Paul Greengrass, director of The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, has been rumored to direct the fifth film in the Bourne franchise. Yet in an interview with Empire, Greengrass confirms the chatter isn’t much more than just rumors.
Greengrass stated the news was “just a figment of someone’s imagination,” and that while him and Damon might discuss it, “we might have a laugh about it, but a serious conversation? Not for a long time.”
Tony Gilroy, who wrote the screenplay for all four Bourne films, took over directing honors in last year’s The Bourne Legacy. The fourth film also introduced Jeremy Renner as Matt Damon’s replacement. There have also been recent rumors that a future Bourne film would team up Renner and Damon.
Greengrass’ next film is Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks, and is set for an Oct. 11 release.
