The past few days have been saturated with coverage from the VMAs, but Miley Cyrus’ less-than-tasteful attempt at twerking was hardly the highlight of this week in pop culture.
The week started off on Sunday with an episode of Breaking Bad that may have been the best the series has churned out yet. The episode ends on a cliffhanger and leaves its massive following jonesin’ for more.
And fans of great stories only had great news ahead. The new J.D. Salinger documentary hinted that the late writer’s estate might publish five more books. Former angsty teen readers were more excited than they were the first time they discovered Holden Caulfield.
James Spader was officially cast as Ultron in the new Avengers movie. Spader got his start during the ’80s in Pretty in Pink as the dreamy, popular boy every girl loves to hate and hates to love, but his casting as Ultron left most of the Twitter-sphere confused.
Lastly, Paul McCartney released a creatively titled song called “New.” This is the first time in six years that he’s released new material and predictably, Twitter went wild with most folks who’d listened to “New” gushing over it or Tweeting tired puns with its name.
