Universal Announces Release Date for Fourth Jurassic Park Film
Universal Pictures has announced that the next installment of the Jurassic Park franchise will get a June 12, 2015 release date. The fourth film, now officially titled Jurassic World, was written by Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow and is currently in the process of assembling its cast. It has been 12 years since the release of Jurassic Park III, during which time plans for a fourth installment have been frequently speculated upon, postponed and abandoned before the film was officially picked up by Universal earlier this year.
It’s unclear so far whether the fourth film will continue from where Jurassic Park III left off or if the movie will be a reboot of sorts. Sam Neill, who played Dr. Alan Grant in the first and third installments, said in an interview with the Dominion Post of New Zealand that the fourth film could definitely wind up being “a big reboot, a total re-jig.” Let’s hope that’s the case, so we can see Wayne Knight as Dennis Nedry return for a second bout against that dilophosaurus, or ask us to say the magic word.
