September 4, 2013  |  1:40pm

Philadelphians have bestowed their highest honor upon native musician Kurt Vile. Last week, Aug. 28 was officially declared “Kurt Vile Day” in the city of Brotherly Love, and Vile was accordingly celebrated in a ceremony at Philadelphia’s City Hall, where he was commended for his artistic contributions to the community. Vile grew up in Lansdowne, a suburb just outside Philadelphia, and moved to the city following high school. After a brief stint in Boston, Vile and his wife moved back to Philly to raise their family.
