Ed Lauter, the character actor known for his roles in films like The Artist and Trouble With the Curve, has died. He was 74. Lauter died this morning of a rare form of cancer while at his home in West Hollywood, Deadline reports.
Throughout a career that spanned an extensive four decades, Lauter appeared in dozens of films and had recurring roles on several television shows. His film credits also include Leaving Las Vegas, Mulholland Falls, The Longest Yard, The Rocketeer, My Blue Heaven, Family Plot as well as Youngblood. He has had roles on series ranging from Showtime’s Shameless to The Office.
Prior to his film and television career, Lauter performed in theater, appearing in a handful of Broadway productions.
