Flaming Lips, Tame Impala Respond to Gov't Shutdown With Two-for-One Ticket Deals
The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Middle Distance Runner, Fountains of Wayne and several other bands playing shows in the D.C. area had a novel response to the recent U.S. government shutdown.
According to the Washington Post, the venues for these bands’ upcoming concerts offered what they called the “Affordable Ticket Act” yesterday. Tickets for nine upcoming shows were buy one, get one free.
Participating venues include the 9:30 Club, U Street Music Hall, Lincoln Theatre and Merriweather Post Pavilion.
Each person could buy a maximum of two tickets, which meant that they were entitled to four tickets for half the price.
