Fleetwood Mac’s John McVie Diagnosed With Cancer

John McVie, bassist and founding member of Fleetwood Mac, has been diagnosed with cancer according to a statement on Fleetwood Mac’s Facebook page.

The band, which recently finished the European leg of its current world tour, has canceled all upcoming dates in Australia and New Zealand. “John McVie, one of the co founding and original members of Fleetwood Mac is now scheduled to be in treatment for cancer during that period of time,” the band writes, “We are sorry to not be able to play these Australian and New Zealand dates. We hope our Australian and New Zealand fans as well as Fleetwood Mac fans everywhere will join us in wishing John and his family all the best.”

McVie, 67, has struggled with alcoholism in the past, but has been sober since the late ‘80s. No statement has been made about what type of cancer he has been diagnosed with.
