IFC Renews Comedy Bang! Bang! for Third Season
Scott Aukerman’s screwball late night show Comedy Bang! Bang! will return to IFC for a third season, reports THR. The network ordered 20 half-hour episodes of its unconventional variety show that will air in two 10-episode stretches in 2014.
“They say the best things come in threes: celebrities deaths, Hobbit movies, and more seasons of Comedy Bang! Bang!” Aukerman said following the announcement. Aukerman previously worked as a writer for Mr. Show and, more recently, a co-creator, director and producer of Between Two Ferns, Funny or Die’s amateurish celebrity interview web series starring Zach Galifianakis.
“For two great seasons, Scott has brought some of the biggest names in entertainment to the Comedy Bang! Bang! couch and delivered a truly unique, funny, and entertaining experience,” IFC president and general manager Jennifer Caserta added. Aukerman and sidekick Reggie Watts interviewed comedy names like Aziz Ansari, David Cross, Jim Gaffigan, Andy Samberg and Sarah Silverman on their couch during its second season, and one can imagine that the guests we see in the third season will have their wardrobes scrutinized in the show titles, too.
