Microsoft Working on its Own Version of Google Glass
Looks like your dreams of Start buttons dangling just above your eyelids are coming true sooner than you think.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft is currently working on its own contribution to the emerging wearable tech industry, its own version of Google Glass.
While the details on the device itself remain sparse, an unnamed source told the WSJ that Microsoft has contacted several manufacturers in Asia about producing the parts necessary to build such wearable tech.
It is also worth noting that this same source has also warned that it is still possible that Microsoft’s eyewear may not ever make it past the prototype phase of its development.
If Microsoft’s Glass-like prototype ends up successful, the software-giant won’t be the only one offering new tech toys to its customers: Samsung, Google and Apple all seem to be heading in the direction of wearable technology. Samsung debuted its Galaxy Gear smartwatch last month. Google obviously has Google Glass. And last but not least, Apple is reportedly working on an iWatch.
As Microsoft’s eyewear is still in its testing phase, a release date for the device has not yet been set.
