Netflix Orders New Original Series From Damages Creators
Quick on the heels of its success with Orange is the New Black, Netflix has commissioned a new original series that will explore the dynamics of a deeply dysfunctional family of adult siblings.
The series, which does not yet have a title, comes from Damages creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler. The first season will include 13 episodes, available for instant streaming to all Netflix members after its online premiere.
“We’ve always wanted to put our spin on a family saga and examine universal themes of family in a way that has never been seen before on television,” said Kessler, Zelman and Kessler in a press release for the forthcoming series.
According to the series’ creators, the show “is a tightly wound thriller that explores the complex bonds between parents and children, brothers and sisters.” The show also aims to unravel “the rivalries, jealousies, and betrayals at the core of every family.”
Kessler, Zelman and Kessler will executive produce the series, which will begin production in early 2014. Sony Pictures Television will produce the Netflix-exclusive drama.
