Paul Feig Set to Produce Animated Peanuts Film
Though Paul Feig has already developed a slew of raunchy comedies for Fox, the R-rated producer is now delving into more family friendly territory.
According to Deadline, Feig will produce and manage the development of an animated film that revolves around the characters of Charles Schulz’ comic strip Peanuts.
Twentieth Century Fox Animation, in conjunction with Blue Sky Studios, will release the film on Nov. 6, 2015.
Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! and Ice Age: Continental Drift‘s Steve Martino will direct the feature from a script written by Craig Schulz, son of the comic strip’s creator. Schulz’s writing team also includes Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano.
All three will work with Feig to produce.
“As we continue on our creative journey to bring my father’s characters to life, collaborating with a talent like Paul is a great step forward,” Schulz said. “Knowing how Peanuts, especially Charlie Brown’s never-give-up attitude has influenced him throughout his life, makes this partnership even more meaningful.”
