South Park Team Misses Deadline for First Time
Well, it had to happen eventually. Last night, the South Park team missed a deadline for the first time in 17 seasons. After years of playing fast and loose with their “six days to air” strategy, Matt Stone and Trey Parker were unable to complete the episode in time for its air date.
Comedy Central released a statement yesterday saying the fiasco was due to a power outage at the South Park studios. “On Tuesday night, South Park Studios lost power. From animation to rendering to editing and sound, all of their computers were down for hours and they were unable to finish episode 1704, ‘Goth Kids 3: Dawn Of The Posers’ in time for air tonight.”
Stone and Parker decided to air the episode a week later and were disappointed to miss deadline. "It sucks to miss an air date, but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen,” Parker said in the statement.
Without a new episode to air, Comedy Central opted to air a rerun of the classic South Park episode “Scott Tenorman Must Die” instead. “Goth Kids 3: Dawn Of The Posers” is set to air Oct. 23 at 10 p.m.
