New York indie pop duo Cults have been an absolute touring machine since they released their self-titled debut in 2011, so the fact that the two were able to sit down and record Static , their second full length album, amidst their hectic schedule is impressive. A week ahead of its release, Cults have made their new album available to stream over at NPR.
Static is produced with the help of Shane Stoneback (who worked with Sleigh Bells and Vampire Weekend) and Ben Allen (who engineered Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion and Centipede Hz). As you might expect from such a collection of indie veterans, the album is loaded with sugary, quick-hitting pop songs, clocking in at a lean half-hour.
You can preorder Static now on iTunes and receive an instant download of the lead single “High Road,” or purchase the album in full on Oct. 15 via Columbia.
