The official soundtrack for the new Hunger Games film has offered up a pretty impressive list of musical acts including Coldplay, The National, Santigold and many others who offer up some somber tracks for the Suzanne Collins adaptation. Now another song, this one by 17-year-old phenom Lorde, covers Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” with a surprisingly dark take on the new wave band’s No. 1 hit.
The track is heavy, cinematic and offers up a general sense of impending doom, which would be appropriate considering the intensity of the book trilogy’s second installment Catching Fire. The film hits theaters on Nov. 22, and the official soundtrack will be available Nov. 19. You can listen to Lorde’s cover in full via Vulture.
