Pussy Riot Member Nadya Tolokonnikova's Location Unknown After Prison Transfer

Pussy Riot member Nadya Tolokonnikova, whose imprisonment on the count of “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred” made international headlines, is now reportedly missing after being moved from a prison in Mordovia 10 days ago, reports BuzzFeed.

“No one knows anything,” her father Andrei Tolokonnikov said from Moscow. “There’s no proof she’s alive, we don’t know the state of her health.” Tolokonnikova had just recently been moved out of her holding cell after she began a hunger strike to protest the prison’s unlivable conditions. In an open letter to the state, she compared the quality of life in the prison to that of Soviet-era Russia.

Her husband, Petya Verzilov, believes Moscow authorities want to completely remove his wife from the rest of society because she had been spotted by a fellow train passenger last week during a prison transfer.

“They want to cut her off from the outside world,” he told BuzzFeed. Fellow Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina is due to be released along with Tolokonnikov in March upon completing the two-year sentence.
