Simon & Schuster to Publish Children's Book Based on Viral Hit "The Fox"

What does the fox say?

Those interested will now be able to discover the answer to that question in a upcoming children’s picture book based on “The Fox,” a YouTube video that gained a viral following after Norwegian comedy pair Ylvis published it in Sept. 2013.

Simon & Schuster will publish the book, aptly titled What Does the Fox Say? Christian Trimmer, the senior editor for the publishing house’s young readers’ division, will edit the book in time for its Dec. 10, 2013 release—according to a press release for the book.

Jon Anderson, President and Publisher of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, remarked that “The Fox” video is “hilarious, mesmerizing, and unforgettable.” He added that the song’s lyrics and playfulness lend themselves well for adaptation into a children’s book.

“The Fox” video has received more than 200 million views after Ylvis debuted it — inspiring parodies on shows ranging from ABC’s Dancing with the Stars to NBC’s Saturday Night Live.
