The Notwist Signs to Sub Pop, Releases New Track from Upcoming Album

Last week, Sub Pop announced through a mysterious post that they had signed an artist who they have been “HUGE fans of for years.” Featuring a short, 15-second clip of the album’s title-track, Sub Pop asked fans to guess which “sonic geniuses” the label had signed.

Today, the label revealed that they will release the newest album from German post-rock, electronic group The Notwist. The album Close to the Glass will be the first one from the band since 2008’s The Devil, You + Me.

“Every once in a while, we take a break from all that t-shirt stuff and we get to sign an artist that we’ve been HUGE fans of for years—artists with an established fan base who would be welcome at any record label that they please (why they choose us, we’ll never know),” Sub Pop said about signing the band.

Close To The Glass is currently set for an early 2014 release. Listen to the first track off the album below.
