The bourbon heist of the decade was pulled in October, when $26,000 worth of Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon was stolen from the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky. The thief stole 65 cases of Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 20 Year, one of the most highly regarded bourbons in the industry. Whiskey lovers stand in line for hours, sometimes days when small batches of this whiskey are released in their local markets. A bottle of the 20-year typically goes for $130.
According to the Bourbon Blog, local authorities have yet to find the culprit, and an anonymous donor is now offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest. The sheriff’s department originally thought the heist was an inside job, then turned their attention to the local high school principal, who has since been cleared of any suspicion.
