Beyoncé, in no hurry to make anyone’s year-end list, released a brand-new, self-titled album in the middle of the night Thursday.
Released exclusively through iTunes, the 14-track “visual album” was released with 17 additional videos to accompany the songs. You can watch teasers for the videos below via Beyoncé’s YouTube channel.
Collaborators featured on the album include Jay Z (“Drunk In Love”), Drake (“Mine”), Frank Ocean (“Superpower”), and Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (“Flawless”). Other contributors credited on the album include Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Michelle Williams, Kelly Rowland, Miguel and Chairlift’s Caroline Polachek.
“I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it. I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans,” Beyoncé said during Thursday’s revea. “I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans.”
As of now, you can only buy the full-album on iTunes, but individual tracks will be available to purchase beginning Dec. 20.
