UPDATE: It looks like Randy has learned his lesson.
The L.A. comedy scene is lucky to have Randy Liedtke. From his appearances on midnight variety extravaganza The Tomorrow! Show as one half of The Doorknockers, to co-hosting “The Bonezone Podcast” with Brendon Walsh, he’s an unpredictable and fearless comic the West Coast has had all to itself
until recently. After Kyle Kinane struggled to #BringBackMiles and wrangle a little free salsa over the weekend before last, it turned out Randy Liedtke, not Pace Salsa, was behind the @Pace_Foods account. Liedtke made the account months ago, with no idea the prank would escalate into a “Wins The Internet” situation.
How do you follow up striking oil with an artificial salsa bot? In Liedtke’s case, by turning the oven on. This Tumblr post from two days ago laid out the perfect non-crime:
That’s a prank, a clever new form of iPhone-gag and a chance to eat cookies all at once. The Internet wondered if/when Liedtke would make good on that idea with a real-life test run, and it looks like he struck today.
Enjoy the mini-saga so far as told by Liedtke’s tweets. Assuming this police officer isn’t a member of LAPD’s Diane-in-7A Division, the rest of us might need to put together a #BringBackRandy hashtag (or bail):
