Drew Barrymore, Adam Sandler Finally Reunite for Blended

Finally, the rom-com matchup fans have been dying to see for ages: Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler—that is, if you don’t count The Wedding Singer in 1998 and 50 First Dates in 2004. But 50 First Dates was a decade ago, and it’s been 15 years since The Wedding Singer.

Their latest effort Blended, just released its first trailer and you’ll probably never guess what the two are up to this time. The two seem to have nothing in common after going on a brutal first date, but end up realizing they are perfect for each other after a series of wild, and somewhat, extraneous coincidences (mostly involving a trip with their families to Africa).

After Barrymore made her directorial debut with Whip It in 2009, starring Ellen Page, the actress has spent her time between acting jobs directing smaller projects like music videos for Best Coast. The director for Blended is Frank Coraci, the guy behind Here Comes the Boom, Zookeeper, Click (you get the idea).

At this rate, movie fans will be treated to a Barrymore/Sandler reunion every 10 years for a slightly altered version of their previous films, with studios hoping moviegoers suffer the same memory-loss problems Barrymore’s character was plagued with in 50 First Dates.

If you want to see Barrymore and Sandler fall in love for a third time, Blended is out May 23, 2014. Check out the trailer below.
