Police parody The Naked Gun is making a return to the big screen, this time starring Ed Helms as Detective Frank Drebin, according to Variety.
Paramount, who released the first three Naked Gun films, is behind the film, hiring writers Thomas Lennon and R. Ben Garant (Night at the Museum and Reno 911) to pen the screenplay for the upcoming reboot.
Helms, who released his third installment of The Hangover trilogy earlier this year, is also set to star as Clark Griswold in a reboot of Chevy Chase’s iconic, cult-classic Vacation. The film went into preproduction back in August, but has been put on a temporary shutdown following creative differences behind the direction of the story.
No word yet on when the new Naked Gun film will be released.
