FX Casts Michael Cera, John Hawkes in Charlie Kaufman-Produced Series

FX announced today at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena that the network has cast Michael Cera (Arrested Development, Juno) and John Hawkes (Deadwood, Winter’s Bone) in its new half-hour comedy How and Why, which begins production this spring in North Carolina.

Charlie Kaufman, the screenwriter behind Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Being John Malkovich, will write and direct the pilot episode and will serve as an executive producer on the series. The half-hour comedy follows a man who can “explain how and why a nuclear reactor works but is clueless about life.”

FX also announced today that it has ordered a pilot created by and starring Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover). The pilot is co-written by Louis C.K., who headlines FX’s comedy Louie and will serve as an executive producer on the series.
