Tonight HBO CEO Richard Plepler announced that the HBO Go streaming video app will be coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in 2014, according to the PlayStation Blog.
The popular app, which lets HBO subscribers watch HBO content on computers, mobile devices and videogame consoles, has been available for the Xbox 360 since March 2012. That’s the only videogame system the app is currently available for, although it will launch for the Xbox One this April. Now Sony loyalists will be able to stream Eastbound & Down and Boardwalk Empire to their console of choice, assuming they already subscribe to HBO through their cable or satellite provider. Sadly Dream On is not among the HBO original programs available through HBO Go, so you’ll have to get your Brian Benben fix elsewhere.
Release dates haven’t been announced yet, but HBO Go will arrive for the PlayStation 3 first, before eventually settling in on the PlayStation 4.
