Jack White has announced his intentions to wrap production on two new studio albums by the end of January 2014. White made the declaration on his Third Man Records Vault subscription-service chatroom to 96 unsuspecting fans, one of whom immediately posted a screenshot of the chat to Imgur before it was later reposted on Reddit.
“I’m producing two albums this month, and finishing them,” the songsmith wrote, “one of them is mine.”
It’s currently assumed that White is referring to a follow-up to his 2012 debut solo album Blunderbuss, which garnered nominations for both Album of the Year and Best Rock Album at last year’s Grammys. As White has regularly stressed his role as a collaborative member of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather in the past, it seems unlikely that the artist would label an album by either of the latter two bands as being “his” exclusively.
The second album remains a mystery, but we might question rumors of it being a Dead Weather release—the band already announced their intentions last fall to release a series of singles in anticipation of an album release sometime in 2015.
