That headline may be harsh, and Jesse Eisenberg may end up being an incredible Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman-Batman movie. But when this particular bit of casting was announced today, it seemed at least a little like a lazy prank. I mean, I’m no comic book connoisseur, but shouldn’t Luthor be a little older and tougher looking? Is he going to code Superman to death, Zuckerberg style? Am I crazy? ARE WE ALL CRAZY?!
Jeremy Irons was also cast as Alfred today, which makes a lot more sense. The Warner Bros. film has a tentative release date of May 6, 2016. Henry Cavill will star as Superman (the move is being billed as a sequel to Man of Steel, which also featured Cavill), Ben Affleck is Batman, and Gal Gadot will be Wonder Woman. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane will also be reprising their Man of Steel roles.
