The Gears of War videogame series that made developer Epic Games famous has traded hands today; Microsoft Studios has announced their acquisition of the rights to all existing and future Gears games.
Speaking of future Gears of War games, Microsoft already has one in the hopper and has asked Black Tusk Studios to develop the title. Former Epic Games Director of Production Rod Fergusson has joined Microsoft’s staff and will aid in the development of Black Tusk’s upcoming game.
The Gears games could use a fresh perspective, since the final Gears game from Epic was a prologue story that revisited old plot points. Hopefully, this shake-up for the franchise will lead to different takes on the struggles of Sera.
