NBC announced over the weekend that The Money Pit, a 1986 comedy starring Tom Hanks and Shelley Long, will be remade into a sitcom under the production of Amblin Television. The Money Pit was originally produced by Universal Pictures and NBC has hired Universal Television, Justin Spitzer (The Office), Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank(The Americans) to produce the television show.
Hanks and Long played Walter and Anna Fielding, a newlywed couple who bought their dream home for cheap and ended up with endless home renovation bills. The sitcom will also focus on a new couple that tests its relationship while fixing up an old house. No pilot date has been announced at this time.
