Facebook's Paper App Redesigns News Feed

Paper is Facebook’s latest attempt at redesigning the way users experience their news feeds.

The Facebook Creative Labs app is a magazine-style visual newsreader—similar to the electronic newsreader app Flipboard—and will be available for download at the iTunes App Store on Feb. 3.

Facebook’s idea behind Paper coincides with the vision behind the latest news feed feature, the “trending” section: they want Facebook to become each user’s personal newspaper.

“Your” Paper is made of themed sections, enabling each user to tailor their news feed to their particular interests. The first section in Paper is the Facebook News Feed, with an entirely new design for displaying photos, videos and longer written posts.

Paper is customizable with a more than a dozen sections about various topics. Each section includes a mix of content from friends as well as publications like CNN and The New York Times.

Paper will be available only for the iPhone on Feb. 3, but should be out for Android shortly after.
