Adult Swim to Expand with Additional Hour of Programming

In 2013, Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim had it’s best year to date, beating out every other network in late-night viewership among younger adults. Now the channel wants to extend that success into prime time. Starting March 31, the popular programming block will pick up an extra hour, airing each night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., The New York Times reports.

For now, Cartoon Network plans to fill the new hour with syndicated repeats of shows like Family Guy and King of the Hill, but in the future this time might be filled with Adult Swim’s growing library of original content. Their latest new series, the sci-fi comedy Rick and Morty, has been an unexpected ratings hit, once again proving the network’s talent for finding winners.
