Beyoncé Debuts Versace Tour Costumes

When Queen Bey beckons, you follow. In this case, you design, especially if “you” means Italian designer Donatella Versace, who has been summoned by Beyoncé to design the costumes for her Mrs. Carter European tour.

Versace, who has worked with musical emerging talents such as Angel Haze and established artists such as M.I.A., created a custom series of Atelier Versace pieces for the tour. This is not Versace’s first time designing costumes for the musical elite. In 2012, the designer worked with Lady Gaga to revamp the Born This Way tour.

Over the weekend, Queen Bey debuted two of the Versace ensembles during a performance in Glasgow. The show opener was a white-and-silver sequin and metal mini dress—a dazzling stunner that flaunted some of Bey’s more natural talents. The second, her finale piece, was a black leather top and skirt under a dress of shimmering chainmail and Swarovski crystals.
