HBO Casts Jack Black, Tim Robbins for Comedy Pilot

HBO announced yesterday that Jack Black and Tim Robbins are set to join a new comedy series titled The Brink. The series was written by Roberto Benabib (Weeds) and his brother Kim Benabib. The Brink is set to be directed by Jay Roach (Game Change and Recount) and executive produced by Jerry Weintraub (Behind the Candelabra).

The show is a dark comedy that focuses on three political figures: the U.S. Secretary of State Walter Hollander (Robbins), Foreign Service office Alex Coppins (Black) and Navy fighter pilot Zeke Callahan (Pablo Schreiber). These three men will attempt to save the planet together from the disarray known as World War III. Aasif Mandvi (The Internship), Maribeth Monroe (Workaholics), Geoff Pierson (Dexter), Esai Morales (La Bamba) and Eric Ladin (The Killing) are set to co-star.

There is no set pilot date at this time.
