For three-and-a-half hours the world endured the telecast of the 86th annual Academy Awards…and it seemed closer to six hours. With the exception of a “let’s-order-pizza-for-the-audience” bit that ran a little too fast and a few mediocre jokes here and there, Ellen DeGeneres did a good job of keeping everything on course. There were some great moments (Lupita Nyong’o’s moving acceptance speech), some predictable moments (Matthew McConaughey saying “Alright, alright, alright”), a Jacqueline Bisset-at-the-Golden Globes moment courtesy of Kim Novak and John Travolta’s glorious name butchering of Idina Menzel. Luckily all of this was captured on Twitter, which, as
usual, was more entertaining than what was going on during the telecast.
