Super Koozie to the Rescue

Drink Features

You know what’s awesome? Beach parties. Bike rides. Afternoons at the pool. Summer hikes. You know what’s awesomer? A cold beer at a beach party, after a bike ride, in the hot sun at the pool…That’s why Mother Nature invented the Koozie during the Middle Ages—to keep your beer cold in the hot sun. Sadly, Middle Age technology isn’t perfect, and your beer inevitably gets warm, typically right when you need a cold beer the most. Sigh.

Enter the BottleKeeper, a stainless steel “bottle” with a 4mm thick neoprene lining. Unscrew the bottom, slide your bottle of beer inside, and shazam—cold beer in the hot sun. The BottleKeeper was designed for the beach, and the beach is where it shines brightest, outperforming your standard koozie while disguising the beer that Pacific Blue doesn’t want you to enjoy. It’s like Stealth technology, but for beer.

And it works. I stuffed a BottleKeeper with a Kolsch in my backpack to enjoy on a bike ride, and the beer was cold an hour later at the top of a burly climb. The BottleKeeper kept a lager cold while I hit balls like Bubba at the driving range. My favorite feature is how the screw-tight lid acts as a stop for your open beer, eliminating spillage.

The Bottle Keeper isn’t going to keep your bottle cold for hours on end in the hot sun, but it does the trick for short periods of time. Think of it as a “super koozie.” Bonus: It reduces the risk of broken bottle syndrome (BBS), which has been known to ruin countless pool parties in the past.

The only bummer is that not every bottle fits. There’s no way you can jam a squat Red Stripe-type bottle in there, but what can you do? The world isn’t perfect. It is a little bit better with cold beer in hot places, though.
