“Looks like baby learned how to play the drums.”
Only a comedy great like Will Ferrell can get away with insulting the seasoned beat-keeper of the Red Hot Chili Peppers in such a fashion.
Ferrell and his musical doppelganger, Chad Smith, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night to battle each other in a drum-off. During the pre-interview (above), the pair played into the whole we-look-alike observations by wearing the same outfit and fielding questions as one another. And the former Saturday Night Live superstar was in rare form, causing Fallon (just like old times) and Smith to break when he described where he was when he heard about the actor’s Feb. 14 Reddit AMA comments (“I was jamming with the Chili Peppers
at our Jam House,” Ferrell said as Smith).
Prior to the battle, Ferrell and Smith raised more than $300,000 for the charities Cancer for College and Little Kids Rock.
After they revealed their true identities, the two men hit center stage for an epic drum battle that ended with the Chili Peppers jamming to Blue Oyster Cult’s “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” with Ferrell on cowbell.
