ABC Developing Mini-Series Based On Ken Follett’s Fall of Giants

Books News

Author Ken Follett’s sweeping historical fiction has gotten the adaptation treatment before—a young Eddie Redmayne in Starz’s The Pillars of the Earth comes to mind—and now ABC has announced plans to bring another of the author’s mega-stories to the small screen: the network will adapt the first book of Follett’s Century Trilogy, titled Fall of Giants, into a 10 hour mini-series.

Fall of Giants is the first book in Follett’s bestselling historical fiction trilogy that also includes Winter of the World and Edge of Eternity. The first installment tells the story of five families—including ones of British, American, Russian and German heritage—and how their lives are impacted during the first World War. Should this adaptation of Fall of Giants do well ratings-wise, the second and third books in the trilogy could also be adapted.

Ann Peacock (The Dovekeepers, Chronicles of Narnia) is on board to pen the script and serve as executive producer, with Sony Pictures Television producing. Michael De Luca (Fifty Shades of Grey, The Social Network) and Stephanie Germain (The Day After Tomorrow) are also attached to the project as executive producers.
