Things Look Dark in Rocksteady’s Arkham Knight Trailer

Things are looking dark for the Dark Knight indeed. Rocksteady just released a new full trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight, the latest installment in their bestselling video game franchise.

The story pits Batman against a mysterious new villain, Arkham Knight, but Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, the Riddler, the Penguin, Two-Face, and Harley Quinn will all make appearances and give the Caped Crusader hell.

The game is set for a June 2 release on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Unlike the previous Batman games from the studio, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, which both earned “T for Teen” ratings, Arkham Knight has “received the “M for Mature rating.

Founder of Rocksteady and Arkham Knight game director Sefton Hill was surprised by the rating but will not change any game content to make the title more mass-marketable.

“It would have been wrong to water down the game and deliver a story we didn’t believe in to keep the game “mass market” or enable it for more people. We feel that’s the wrong way to go about it. We said we love the story and we don’t want to jepoardize that,” Hill told IGN.

Arkham Knight will be the finale in Rocksteady’s Batman trilogy, so there was a definite need to raise the stakes.

“As the end of the trilogy, we have every villain in Gotham working together to destroy Batman,” Hill said. “It’s unavoidable that some bad stuff is going to happen. But that doesn’t mean we changed our approach. We’re not including gratuitous blood or swearing. We want to deliver a true end with no compromises, and it takes us to some dark places.”

Batman: Arkham Knight is available June 2 on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
