Watch Rick and Morty Crash Into The Simpsons

Rick and Morty’s second season doesn’t start until July 26, but you can see them this Sunday night in the opening couch gag sequence from The Simpsons season finale. Or, y’know, you can click play above and watch ‘em right here, right now. The Simpsons has been letting guest animators play with the couch gag for a while now, and this weekend Adult Swim’s sci-fi hit gets a shot.

“This couch gag plays like a full-fledged mini-episode,” Simpsons creator Matt Groening said in a press release. “It’s going to be a real treat for fans of The Simpsons, fans of Rick and Morty, and fans of animated belching.”

“We are honored and blown away to be a part of The Simpsons,” Rick and Morty co-creator and executive producer Justin Roiland said in that same press release. “If I could go back in time and tell myself that this would happen, I’d be like ‘No way, Jose!’ I simply can’t believe it. I think we might all be living in some kind of massive computer simulation to be honest. Look up simulation theory. That would explain how this happened.”

Even if you aren’t a big fan of Rick and Morty or present day Simpsons, you might want to watch the clip above: It could be the last time you ever hear Harry Shearer do Ned Flanders’ voice.
