Tracee Ellis Ross Recreates Iconic Music Video for Diana Ross’ “Work That Body”

As a tribute to her famous mother, Diana Ross, Tracee Ellis Ross has recreated the 1981 music video for “Work That Body.”

In the original video, Diana Ross can be seen working out in an assortment of stylish leotards. She sings about working off that last piece of cake and how everyone will be jealous of her svelte physique. As the pounds come off, all the men will stare and think how hot she is.

In Tracee Ellis Ross’ remake, clips of the original video are mixed in with clips of Tracee Ellis Ross re-enacting Diana Ross’ movements. Additionally, Tracee adds in a few extras, such as her munching on two cupcakes and a message to her mother at the end.

On Tracee’s website, Traceeellisross.com, she explains that unlike many of the music videos today, “Work That Body” is meant to empower rather than objectify women’s bodies.
