Even if you were born to run, you should still probably walk to grab your copy of The Boss’ upcoming autobiography.

Simon & Schuster is publishing Born to Run, a memoir the musician has been working on since 2009. Set for a September 27 release date, the book will be released in hardcover, ebook, and audio editions in the United States, U.K., Canada, Australia and India. It will also see international distribution through region-specific publishing houses.

Springsteen began working on the autobiography after performing with the E Street Band at the Super Bowl halftime show. Simon & Schuster acquired rights to the book through an exclusive submission from Springsteen’s legal representatives, Deadline reports.

According to the musical legend, the memior will focus on his upbringing in Freehold, New Jersey, following his relentless journey to becoming a musician. From his early days as bar band king to the steady rise of the E Street Band, Springsteen promises “disarming candor” about his life’s ups and downs, and will illustrate “why the song “Born to Run” reveals more than we previously realized.”

In his book, Springsteen notes, “Writing about yourself is a funny business. But in a project like this, the writer has made one promise, to show the reader his mind. In these pages, I’ve tried to do this.”
