Rick And Morty Will Be Back In Late 2016

Comedy News Rick and Morty

Rick and Morty’s second season ended with the most depressing cliffhanger of last year: Rick in galactic prison, depressed and disillusioned with his role in the Smith family, while Jerry, Beth, Summer, and Morty figure out what to do next. The biggest gut-shot, though, came in a post-credits scene that featured Mr. Poopy Butthole (non-fans: this is an actual character from the show) rubbing in the fans’ impending long wait for Season 3. “Tune into Rick and Morty Season 3 in, like, a year and a half or longer to see how we unravel this mess,” he said. “Hoo-wee!”

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait quite that long for new episodes. Video has surfaced of a panel from Miami’s Magic City Comic Con in January that featured series co-creator Dan Harmon being questioned directly about when Season 3 would premiere. Fairly nonchalantly, he told the crowd to expect new episodes around the end of the year. When this revelation was greeted with cheers, he incredulously remarked, “You guys do realize we’re at the beginning of this year.” Doesn’t matter, Dan, it’s still earlier than Mr. Poopy Butthole promised.

But there was more: Harmon also announced that there would be 14 episodes in Season 3 instead of 10. More time for one of TV’s best comedies to strut its stuff? Hell yes.

In the mean time, check out this “crazy cover of “Get Schwifty we dug up a few weeks ago.
